Make your goals 10 times more powerful

Tweak them into MnM goals.

Minimum + normal + Maximum = MnM goals

The goals that most people create are the "normal" goals. I call them nada goals because that's usually what happens with normal goal setting -- nothing!

The minimum goal is just what it says, the smallest thing that you will already do that will take you closer to your goal. The trick is to make it something that you know will happen, no matter how "lazy" or busy you get.

If your normal goal is to improve your diet then your minimum goal might be to drink a glass of water every day. If you put a drinking glass next to the sink how simple is it to fill and empty it after you brush your teeth in the morning?!

These minimum goals are also called momentum goals because that's all they need to do, create a tiny bit of momentum towards your bigger goals and give you small successes to celebrate!

Maximum goals are those big, hairy, audacious goals -- the monstrous things that seem way beyond your reach. Some people may consider these decade projects or even as big as their life purpose. In the same way that the minimum goals are insignificant compared to the normal goals, the normal goals are tiny compared to the monster goals.

The trick is perspective -- if you've got a really well formed Monster goal, all of a sudden reaching your normal goal is no big deal. (Just like reaching your momentum goals was nothing compared to your normal goal.)

Most people already have normal goals and can quickly come up with minimum goals -- creating big enough Monster goals is often a bit more tricky.
